There
is a longstanding debate on whether integration of
schools and public facilities helped or hurt Blacks in
America. No matter how you feel about it, there are some
backlashes that did take place. Civil liberties are
something that all humans should be born into and if we
don’t, there is no doubt that we should strive to
achieve it. Today, we find that the black community is
conferring more college graduates than any other time in
history, yet our business infrastructure still lags
behind.
There
are many reasons for this:
-
One reason is the microwave society that we have
bought into. If we do not see results immediately,
we rarely become a part of something. The black
community is not the only ones guilty of this but
the black community suffers the most from this
behavior.
-
People seek security. We prefer to be in safe
situations even if there are fewer rewards than
being in volatile ones. So we find safe places to
live (generate tax revenues outside our
communities), go to school (build institutions
outside our communities) and earn money (these tend
to be in jobs rather than entrepreneurship). A
number of black communities are only suffering
because of those who have “arrived” that are
emigrating from our communities at record levels.
The jobs we seek are often with infrastructures that
have been around for many years, hence we take our
expertise and do not build our own.
-
The innate nature of a woman is determination. She
will see a goal and persevere until she reaches it.
This has been one of the reasons why the female high
school graduation rate is so much higher than the
male. What happens when she graduates? She seeks
safety. (Seek bullet 2.) The end result is much of
our talent is being deposited into building
infrastructures outside of the black ownership. I
don’t blame our females either. The black male must
be the visionary and create institutes that make our
females feel safe to be a part of. If not, she has
limited options.
Now,
do not misunderstand. Integration was a beautiful and
necessary step in the evolution of America, however in
the process Blacks allowed to forego the need for a
Black infrastructure while deciding to utilize others.
One of the side effects we find is a much higher
unemployment rate among the black citizens of America.
This is simply because of the lack of black owned
businesses. I agree that we all can’t be Freedom
Fighters. Some must stay at home to safeguard and build
the infrastructure. Other countries do this. They send
their citizens abroad to learn from other societies and
cultures, then they return to implement what they’ve
learn. We can duplicate this process. We sometimes fail
to return. If we solve the economic problem, we solve
many others, to include discrimination and unemployment.
Many would say that focusing on racial infrastructures
is not needed in these days but I would say that this is
a convenient statement for others to make while they are
secure in their culture’s strong infrastructure. The
black infrastructure is the only infrastructure not
completed in America. However, all others invite us to
participate in the building of theirs, whether by
employees or consumers but rarely as stockholders.
